We Install York Systems and Service All Kinds of Heating Systems

We recommend York heating and air conditioning equipment, known for high efficiency, reliability, and serviceability.

Regular Home Heating System Maintenance

Efficient operation is a function of regular heating system maintenance. When a heating system malfunctions, any one of its three components – heat/cold source, distribution system, or the thermostat – can be causing the problem. Our technicians can easily detect an impending issue before you have to replace a heating unit or spend a lot of money on parts and labor.

Furnace Repair

Overview

When you need heater repair, furnace repair, heating system repairs or more, Ritter Heating Services is the heating repair company for the northern Indiana area. Regardless of whether a furnace burns oil, gas, or is electric, it will age and wear. At some point in its lifetime, a furnace will require furnace repair or replacement. Even if you don’t use your furnace for many months out of the year, even a mild winter can be dangerous if temperatures drop below the 30s. Furnaces need to be in proper working condition in order to keep Indiana residents safe.

Furnace Maintenance

Overview

Ritter’s Heating Service and Maintenance can save you from the discomfort and expense of equipment breakdown. When your furnace breaks down, you’re not only facing a chilly winter night without heat, you’re also risking the health and safety of your family without even knowing it. Incomplete combustion in gas heating systems can produce dangerous gasses, including tasteless, odorless carbon monoxide.

The best way to avoid costly or dangerous damages is to maintain a regular, consistent heating tun-up. Making sure you have a professional technician looking at your HVAC equipment will ensure that potentially-harmful or expensive repairs are caught before they become an issue.

Common Furnace Problems

  • Ignition Problems
A faulty ignition or pilot could make it difficult to heat a home or commercial space. Thermocouple problems, drafts or clogs in the appliance may result in an unlit pilot light.
  • Wear and Tear
Normal wear and tear can cause airflow problems, heat control-related problems or even overheating.
  • Frequent Cycling
Cycling between the “On” and “Off” modes may indicate a clogged filter, improper airflow or a bad thermostat setting.
  • Thermostat Malfunction
Your furnace’s thermostat is the device that controls and determines when heat is to be produced and how much. Problems with your thermostat can result in no heat, no fan to force the hot air through your home, or intermittent heat which result in comfort problems.
  • Dirty Filters
Dirty or clogged air filters reduce airflow, making a furnace work harder to circulate. In some cases, a clogged filter may damage the limit switch, which controls the fan.
  • Noisy Furnace
Rumbling, squeaking and rattles aren’t normal. The sounds may indicate a mechanical problem, airflow reductions or a clogged burner.A burning smell is a serious issue because it could indicate the start of an electrical fire. Receptacles or connected electrical cords that are warm to the touch are also a sign of an electrical problem. Do not use the receptacle until the situation has been repaired.
